In our modern horse world, we are
all curious about the training approach and overall
philosophy that a trainer employs. Since this is such a large question, it is most likely best answered by what we do believe in, as opposed to what we do not.
We do believe that horses learn best through processes that set up a conditioned response from the horse. We use reinforcements to encourage desirable behavior.
We continually replace the horse's unwanted behavior with behavior that can warrant a positive response from the trainer.
We believe that pressure is needed to teach, but
know that it must be fair and appropriate.
We expect our horses to work as hard as we do, while keeping their bodies and minds healthy.
A great training program includes a well-thought-out teaching plan, consistency and a lot of patience.
We have high expectations from our horses, but try to not ask for too much too soon.
We believe that a horse first gains respect, then builds confidence, followed by
developing a skill set.
We continually strive to
improve our horsemanship, and grow as trainers. We
follow classical training principles as we prepare each
horse for their chosen discipline.
